It’s true Talitha is better adjusted then many children who are sexually assaulted, but becoming overly friendly, and sexualized, towards others is not an uncommon coping mechanism for young children who were sexually assaulted. But yeah, when you’re in custody your privacy rights are basically nonexistent. Anything you say is fair game for the police to use against you.
Police lie all the time in their jobs. They might say somebody was arrested when they weren’t or impersonate certain types of people to be allowed access to certain areas, and so forth. Part of the job.
They can lie about what evidence they have in order to extract an admission or a confession… (we have a witness that saw you at so-n-so at such-n-such a time, etc) which is why anybody who’s arrested or even questioned by the police needs to shut their damn mouth and only ask for a lawyer in response to any question.
What they aren’t allowed to do is present those lies as evidence in court. `But your statements or admissions are fair game.
That’s really not relevant to what’s happening here… they went to arrest Tibron and he shot two deputies. no lies are necessary, he’s *going* to prison… even if he somehow gets off on the other charges.
Yes, there should be an officer present, but if they’re stretched thin the officer would still have to step out for a few minutes from time to time. He should be in juvvie, but it takes a few hours to make the proper arrangements, especialy after hours. That might even be what the (too thinkly spread) police are off doing. But according to the case record, Peltier was arrested with two others and they were all charged with the same crime. But Peltier was charged separately for *some* reason. His two fellow defendants got off because the shooting was found to be Self-defense. Peltier was convicted of murder in a separate trial for the exact same crime and circumstances.
