I guess Beth-Anne has never had to ask for them before. Being a guy, I can’t imagine how embarrassing it would be for a young lady to ask anyone (even another lady) for them.
Since I was a pre-teen I’ve never had any problem when I’ve asked other women for pads, but it was because I have loving parents who didn’t make me feel embarrassed the day my first period started.
In Beth-Anne’s case, it’s either a new experience that’s starting because of her age, or because of her shitty past that she’s too shy to even ask an adult woman for something like pads.

I am a guy. Never married. No sisters (or brothers, for that matter). And I knew what she was asking for as soon as she asked it.
Flora may have been trying to get her to actually SAY the word. Beth-Ann is obviously very uncomfortable with herself, what she’s going through, and what she needs to deal with her body’s processes.
Sometimes a completely “Oh, that? Sure thing!” and the “issue” being treated as so casual it doesn’t even cause an eye blink is good for easing those anxieties because, well, it’s NOT a big deal, something to be embarrassed by, or feeling awkwardness over.
I can imagine how awkward Beth-Anne must feel; she’s totally out of her comfort zone, having to the spend the night with strangers and then having to discuss something so personal. I can only imagine how she’ll deal with the whole naked thing, considering the stuff she’s implied to have gone through in the past.
Yes, it’s going to be awkward hanging out clothes-optional with the girl whose violent sexual assault she facilitated a couple of days ago. My heart bleeds for her, it truly does. Let’s see if she has any ptsd flashbacks to tanya, tied up on the ground with her clothes ripped off, whimpering a plea for help that will go unanswered.
Many people seem to have forgotten that Beth-Ann just wanted a little bit of childish “revenge” for Tanya’s initial violence of punching her in the stomach the day before. So yeah, Beth-Ann got slugged in the gut while menstrating for Kaleb getting shoved off the bench by Jestan, which she didn’t have anything directly to do with AND got threatened with a knife after she tried to stop Jestan (more than once) from going too far with his assault on Tanya. Beth-Ann wasn’t even the one who wanted Tanya beat up; she simply told Jestan what happened in the bathroom.… Read more »
I wasn’t saying that Tanya wouldn’t blame Beth-Ann for what happened to her, but I am saying that it’s not like she did NOTHING to stop Jestans assault when it turned from physical to sexual.
She wasn’t there cheering Jestan on, she was trying to reign him in, repeatedly, and failed.
The reason Beth-Anne received a punch in the gut was because she ran away when Kaleb needed help, not to mention that she’s as guilty of the assault as Jestan for starting the follow-up (and could be charged as an accessory for the rape, though who knows if in the future it might occur or not). Anyway, it’s something that was already mentioned before. As for her feeling uncomfortable, we don’t know if it’s her first menstruation or not, but considering that she had a bad experience with adults (by getting either ignored or punished for stuff she didn’t commit,… Read more »
Speaking of the law; I could see where she would be guilty of assault, but acomplice to a rape she tried to stop (and failed) is one of the dumber things I’ve ever heard about the legal system to date.
“I’m going to get in just as much trouble because I was THERE and tried to stop it as if I did nothing? Why should I risk myself?”
Way to encourage people to do nothing about a situation.
You forgot that when Jestan started to grop Tanya, Beth-Anne shrugged it off by telling him to not go further and that’s it, instead of taking it as a warning sign and stop him earlier. At the end, Jestan decided that touching Tanya’s chest wasn’t enough so he proceed to rape her. As Frank once said: “Just like the getaway driver is responsible for robbing a bank even though they didn’t use a gun. It’s called being an accessory. If you go with a friend to help commit a robbery but it escalates to the homeowner being murdered by your… Read more »
Actually, Beth-Anne did try to stop him from going further. When she came back in and saw he had taken off her bottoms and his own, she told him to stop and that he was going too far, but he rebuffed her and then basically threatened to rape her instead unless she left. Don’t get me wrong, she still bears responsibility for setting the whole thing and for running away instead of doing more to intervene, but considering what she’s implied to have gone through in the past, she might have just been afraid of being victimized again.
I already know that. However, some people forgot that >way before< Beth-Anne told Jestan to pull his pants up after he “removed the second curtain”, she saw him groping Tanya after cutting off her shirt (“first curtain”), but she just told him to not go too far instead of outright stopping him (or at least going somewhere else to call for help). At first she just shrugged the groping off, but when she found out that Jestan was planning to rape Tanya and tried (but failed) to stop him, at that moment she realized that she screwed up royally. Also,… Read more »
Just because one’s a minor doesn’t mean that they can go scot-free when it comes to commit/be part of a criminal act. While minors don’t receive the exact same sentences as adults, it still doesn’t mean that they can cause harm of that level against someone, especially if the victim is younger than them. There’s something called “age of criminal responsibility”, which is varied between states (not sure how does it work in the comic’s place)
I’m already aware that she’s a minor. Still doesn’t excuse the fact that she, along with her brother, committed a crime against someone who’s younger than them.
Not to mention that some people here already pointed out stuff that proves her involvement (in the legal part) yet you’re still salty about how the legal system works when it comes to accessories.
Yeah that’s right. It’s been a couple years (or whatever) for us readers, but just a couple days for the characters!

Just wait til you have to take your daughter shopping for them.
Fortunately(?), that’ll never happen. I’m 67 and have no one who’s interested in being the future mother of my child(ren).

dito. 😅
Me, also, too.

I don’t think Beth-Anne ever had a comfort zone to begin with, based on everything we’ve heard so far.

Tanya’s at her home, Beth-Anne is at Flora’s home. They were specifically split up for that reason.

We’ve had this discussion already. I cannot imagine Tanya not blaming Beth-Anne for what happened to her.

My thoughts exactly; Beth-Anne is no angel, but she’s also not a monster and certainly not undeserving of sympathy.
That’s people 101

“Is she guilty of the sexual assault? No”
Actually, under the law, she’s just as guilty as her partner who did. Morally, perhaps not. But legally, yes.
Law or no law, there is no reason that Tanya will not blame Beth-Anne for having had her raped.
Speaking of the law; I could see where she would be guilty of assault, but acomplice to a rape she tried to stop (and failed) is one of the dumber things I’ve ever heard about the legal system to date.

I think you are overlooking that she’s well, and truly, into the realm of a minor.
She’s not 18, or 25, or 40. She’s MAYBE 11.
Eleven. MAYBE.
Put that in your legal system pipe and smoke on it for a bit, then get back to me.

Also, calm down.
I’m not saying that minors should go scott-free, but you’re acting like they should treat her like an of age adult.

Regardless of what individuals may think of as “Right”, in situations like this the Law is *always* a consideration.
