Knowing Campion, like I know Campion, I always go for the razor (occam’s razor).
It is more likely that They are referring to telling the kits what the evening’s plans are, rather than telling the kits that the adults are getting engaged. No, really. Always go for the innocent explanation first.
What our dirty minds go to first is not necessarily what Campion means by what the character says.

I don’t think they’re engaged, just deciding to officially acknowledge they’re in a relationship. Unless I missed something. I’ve been out of sorts lately.
