I do agree with Flora, though, she’s in a pickle of a situation, and she really doesn’t need Tanya trying to pulp Tali’ in retribution for her little brother.
Whenever I hear people say “violence isn’t the answer” I point out that violence isn’t THE answer to every problem and question, but it is indeed AN answer to certain problems and questions. It’s just a matter of identifying and determining the difference between them.
We live in a society that pushes and forces forgiveness upon us. There are some things you just can’t forgive. In this day we’re pushed to forgive rapists, child-molestors, and worse because hate is “un-Godlike” but studies are proving forgiveness doesn’t always work, revenge though, that does. Revenge can help us heal because it brings something forgiveness doesn’t. While Tanya shouldn’t hurt Tali, I think more stern talking tos and words would help her as time goes by. Tali doesn’t seem to have a firm dad, just a creep who normalized things. Discipline can’t be forgotten to help a child… Read more »
The characters here are essentially humans, but among real animals, there is bullying and ostracism, and in my mother’s former neighbor’s house, they had several male cats, the youngest of which one time chased one of the older cats around their dining room table. Then the eldest cat, who had trouble moving, still got up, walked over to them, got between them, and snarled once at the kitten, making him leave the other cat alone. Though one can argue that just because characters have fur or feathers and tails and snouts or beaks, they wouldn’t be better than humans if… Read more »
There’s nothing wrong with forgiveness. What most people forget is that forgiveness actually has to be earned, it’s not guaranteed. And some folks just plain aren’t interested in earning it.
But since Tali’ is still so young, most of that simply doesn’t apply to her. When one doesn’t know what they’re doing is wrong, it’s an entirely different matter.
I get so sick of hearing “Forgive and forget” that I often remind people, “Even GOD requires repentance before forgiveness”.
To your second point: Talitha must know at least on some level she was doing something wrong. Otherwise she wouldn’t have tried to hide it.
In legal lingo that’s called “evidence of awareness of guilt”. For example. if you don’t know you’re doing something wrong, you don’t try to destroy or hide evidence.

A cliffhanger!? And right there, Campion?
You are a wicked, wicked bunny, sir.

Yeah. Sometimes violence is not the answer, but sometimes it is. In this case it’s the former.

Absolutely this.

I understand, since Lily Orchard had said pretty much the same thing.
You have learned the art of edging the reader’s anticipation well. Indeed you are as powerful as the Emperor has foreseen.
And now to wait patiently until next week.
~sigh~
That’s always the worst part, isn’t it?
^_^
What is this offer Flora will make? Will Tali keep her cool? How are the boys doing? Find out next week at the same Bat time and same bat channel!
