Even so, she was still responsible for escalating things by telling Jestan and Laroy in order to grab Tanya and Kaleb and make them suffer. If she at least called a random teacher when Kaleb had a seizure (after being pushed from her friends’ “territory”) or learned not to run away again after receiving Tanya’s punch and leave her and Kaleb alone, things wouldn’t have ended up in a horrible way. It’s more or less like when Person A and Person B plan to rob Person C, and B decides not only to commit robbery but also rape. Even if… Read more »
Why not just blame Tanya? After all, if she hadn’t punched Beth-Anne, Beth-Anne wouldn’t have told Jestan. So the extension of your logic is Tanya is responsible for Tanya being attacked.
It’s called being an accessory to a felony. Also Conspiracy to commit a felony.
BethAnne instigated the commission of a felony. She planned with others to commit a felony. She took part in the felony.
Tanya at best committed misdemeanor assault. *technically* she could be charged, but in most jurisdictions at the time, the DA would have to be an incredible hardass to charge schoolkids for fighting.
My point is, if you want to assign blame for an event, how far back do you go? Jestan committed the offence using the fact that Beth-Anne wanted revenge for an attack on her that was instigated by her actions towards Kaleb who was suffering after the incident with Benni… and back and back. Where do you stop?
Freidrich Balasti. He lets criminals roam the street on the mere merit that they’ll come back to court! He hasn’t solved the drug problem in our county, despite claiming to have taken drugs off the street! Squatters, drunkards, and hoodlum skateboarders roam the street unabated!
Worst of all, he’s let some minors involved in a heinous crime get off scot-free! How’s THAT for justice?
Freidrich Balasti. Soft on crime. Bad for Rubidoux county.

You do know that’s a strawman argument, right?
I’ve never said that Tanya is responsible for being attacked. In fact, Jestan started the mess by pushing Kaleb from “his” bench while Beth-Anne decided to conspire against Tanya after being called out for running away, and the latter not only got tied and beaten, but also stabbed and raped (even if it’s not what Beth-Anne asked Jestan to do)
Sounds like Beth-Anne might be getting groomed to be used or is getting used by random males, including her brother. Flora and Colin are going to have their paws full of abused and trafficked kits should show up
Not sure I’d call it grooming. She seems to be getting more comfortable talking to adults about her sexual experiences. A kid being groomed would be first taught to keep it a secret, not to talk to anyone about the abuse. Beth-Anne is opening up to an adult she just met and hardly knows.

That’s… quite the admission. And this is before child seats, of course.
I’m glad we’re getting more of Beth-Anne’s story but…wow. I suspected she’d been sexually abused, though I was expecting Jestan to be the culprit (though, he might still have). It sounds like she’s one of those foster kids who just get shifted from one bad home to the next.
Everything about Talitha she’s so enthusiastic and reactive and it warms my heart, even when she’s making me sad for her by proxy of how crushed she seems because she can’t shed her clothes in her comfort zones (I can relate)
I’m worried what Talitha might do if she finds Kaleb sleeping naked. Then Beth Anne trying to just talk her out of it because she is scared of touching her and getting in trouble or not stopping her and getting in trouble. That would put Flora in the tight spot of protecting her son from already scarred children and trying to do no harm to any of them.

Although it doesn’t justify her act of having Tanya raped yesterday, this confirms that Beth-Anne was sexually abused (by other kits) as well
Beth-Ann didn’t intend for Tanya to get raped, she tried to reel Jestan in from going too far and even stop the rape before it started.
Even so, she was still responsible for escalating things by telling Jestan and Laroy in order to grab Tanya and Kaleb and make them suffer. From the legal standpoint (which was what was under discussion) It comes to the first person to commit a chargeable offense.

Flora looks exhausted with her ears draped over the headrest.

I’m left to wonder if Beth-Anne’s account is going to cause Tali to start questioning her own actions and the actions of others.
That is a good question.
