I could be wrong but Tanya has always been a cranky pessimist with little bit of a violent streak. I don’t think her recent trauma changed much in how she interacts with others. also a little distrust of authority can be a wise thing, even if you’re a kid. Doesn’t mean you’ll be imprisoned.
things have changed for the better quite a bit, especially when it comes to sympathy and treatment for victims of sexual abuse. coming from a victim’s pov.

(that being said, Tanya would absolutely benefit from seeing a good therapist. though society wasn’t as well versed in trauma back then.)
Maybe it’s me, but I cannot imagine great strides in mental health care being made since the 1990’s. I could be wrong though.
