Colin: Okay, guys, the new freezers are arriving some time next week so we don’t have much time to get the storage cleared out. I think--
*BZZZZZ*
Colin: Hmm. It’s from my cubsitter. I better take this call, guys. she’s only supposed to call this if it’s an emergency.
Colin: Hello, Flora? What’s going on? What’s wrong with Tanya? She’sWhat? No way. What’d she do? Wait, what, really? Crap! Okay. Okay! I’ll be right there!
Colin: Gotta go, guys! I’ve got a Family emergency! Make sure that back room gets cleared out! Oh, and keep an eye on the electricians!
Worker 1: Alright, Boss.

Did they have little flip-phones like that in the 90s?
Yes, they did, surprisingly! Though, from my memory, those kind of phones were usually only for emergencies like this.
Oh indeed there were! Of course, up until the late 90’s / early 2000’s, cell phones like this were the realm of the rich or those who could write it off (business use.)

Is this the first sign of an intelligent character that is something other than a mammal? I don’t recall seeing any previously.
The Lizard messing with the ‘D’ or the Bird guy? Or both??
The background character could be an otter, given the similar looking tails and small ears that can’t be seen from a distance. We also can’t see the character’s snout/muzzle.
Campion I’m having keyboard issues when typing a post. Is that another Member privilege?
Sounds like your device may have issues with a script.
https://www.foresthillcomic.org/comic/14d008/ this may be the first aprerence of a Bird character when Kalab goes to Sunday School. Also you see a turtle family when everyone eats at Dingo Roos.
This is actually the second. The first was back on page 270
I truly hope that Colin is able to maintain a level of composure and doesn’t jump to conclusions. This will be one of the most wretched things his character will go through, including the loss of his wife…
I have a feeling that this may go badly and folk are going to get hurt. Then again, if it were my little girl there would be a storm of righteous fury. It’s a hell of a thing being a parent. :-/
I really enjoy the third panel. the angle change has a dramatic feel to it. The close up of his eyes and the angle and a subtle but effective way of showing him reacting to the worst news a dad an hear without going to crazy.
