I don’t know about the hug part but, when I was a kid, it was common practice for doctors to give their children patients candy for being “grown-up” during the exam. Yeah, I know. Offering candy to children is one way that pedophiles get close to their victims but, he IS a doctor and there ARE others there, too, others that would probably prevent him from doing anything even if that was on his mind.
I dunno, with what he said about her hymen it sounds like he doesn’t have a clue that she’s a victim from a pedophile sexring and is simply a regular pediatrician doing a gyno checkup and is probably going to have a serious talk to Flora about the posibility of her having been touched inapropriately
Presumably he knows he’s doing a rape kit as well, or he likely wouldn’t be taking swabs.
Which raises a question in my mind for Campion: Did you read up on what a rape exam entails? I recall it being an issue for some readers when Tanya’s exam was going on.
I’m sure that if he knew Talitha was sexually abused he wouldn’t have wondered about her broken hymen. Unless somebody told the doctor, how would he know?
I had a dentist who gave me little toys for a good checkup when I was younger. But no dentist or doctor ever gave me candy. let alone hugs. I don’t know of any cultures where physical affection is that strong. I know real-life animals cuddle together, but even so…
Keeping in mind that Anthro culture probably has quite a few differences from human culture, it shouldn’t be unusual for animals to be more tactile in their interactions. These aren’t cartoon humans in animal suits, after all. They’re a separate race that were made by Man in some as-yet unrevealed way. How much or how little they are influenced by their animal-ness hasn’t really been explored yet. Example: In my own fictions, Anthros were originally human. They took on animal attributes after a series of experiments to improve humanity as they took to long-term space exploration. About one in every… Read more »
Well, the candy is pretty common, and it’s not like he offered her a hug while she was still naked, but after she got dressed. Maybe it was my 80’s small town family doctor upbringing, but when I was growing up, I got hugs after exams from my doctor all the time until I was… eh, 7-8? Somewhere around there, I don’t’ recall exactly. I remember that it made them feel less like a scary stranger who was doing stuff “because” and more like a friend the was trying to make sure I was ok and healthy. This kind of… Read more »

I’m really surprised that’s ‘all’, just a broken hymen? Honestly she should be raw and bloody with the amount of abuse shes had and the fact she keeps touching herself reinforces it
ok just ganna say half the stuff imma wright here makes me very ill we cant 100% trust benni with that, we have no clue when that was said (coulda been a year or just the other night) also that proves at lest one person has tried to rape her. also dont forget hands or toys, its clear her dad views her mostly as a sex toy even wile trying to flee he was thinkin about making time to molest her, doesnt strike me as a ‘caring pedophile’. id say watch ‘child of rage’, its about a real child victim… Read more »
Believe it or not, there are people who don’t actually get angry, or at least in Talitha’s case, she accepts the molestation as something normal because she doesn’t know better. She was genuinely surprised that another kit rebuffed her when she touched his privates, and she is happy to see either Benni or her father despite what they did to her. As for Talitha’s father, he has probably rationalized to himself about having sex with Talitha as not really being evil. One can convince oneself of anything.
That’s a really good question. ….. without googling anything, because I don’t want THAT in my search history, maybe they are taking photos to verify what’s happening? The flashlight could be to give her some anonymity, by not including her face, just, uh, y’know, the photographed parts………….
but it’s really weird still. I keep looking at the shapes in the background. Like I thought maybe she’s having some sort of flashback or something to when pictures were being taken of her, but I can’t see any humanoid shapes in the gray back there.
Oh boy! One of my obsessive interests; flashlights! *Saddles up his hobby horse* Almost all flashlights have some form of intentional tactile or auditory feedback when they’re turned on/off so the user knows they’ve actuated the switching mechanism. That way if the light is not working, you at least know you hit the switch correctly. More than likely the dark room was was to reduce exposure of her body in…. “more suggestive” positions and/or it often helps to examine something closely with a concentrated light source. This is a trick I use all the time as a technician and I learned… Read more »
Flashlights from the 1990’s were probably just like those of pervious decades, and there was no actual innovations until bright white LED’s became common years later. Videotapes are still commonly used in this story, remember? Nowadays they are as obsolete as carburetors in cars.
I’m 40 with a flashlight and LED obsession. Trust me; It’s less a question of a “probably” as they weren’t the same once you get past the mid 80’s and I still very clearly remember because dementia hasn’t yet started nibbling on my brain 😉 Around 85 is when one of the bigger innovations in flashlights started flooding the market; gas filled bulbs. Using halogen or krypton, the very early 90’s was rife with smaller lights that ran on AA and even AAA sized batteries and they were more practical than larger lights in the mid 80’s. So, were they… Read more »
Fuel injectors were expensive compared to carbs and more difficult to understand (they really aren’t if you have any grasp on electronics… which most auto mechanics don’t.)
That’s why they weren’t used much until the late 80’s and early 90’s.

He’ll…give her a hug and some candy? Is he making some kind of joke? I mean, its not like he’s in the dark about what happened to her.

Given that the appointment was arranged (IIRC) by CPS, I’m sure he knows what he’s doing the exam for.

Remember what Benni said? He’s the only one who can fit in her. It seems like they were much more careful with Tali here than they were with Benni.

We know *exactly* when that was said.
Yesterday.
(Comic time, obviously)
Because that was when Benni was talking to Flora about it and she told him her personal story.
Why turning the light out and using the flashlight? XD
and what’s with those *click*s? Someone taking pictures in the dark? 😛

I wish they still had carburetors in cars. 😕
They’re a lot easier to deal with if something goes wrong than modern cars are.
I’m not a mechanic, but I’m glad they don’t have turbochargers in cars anymore. They are a maintenance nightmare.
Fuel injectors have been around at least since the 1950’s. Since they improve fuel economy, why weren’t they used more often in the old days?
I guess you haven’t looked at Ford’s offerings in the last, oh 10 years or so.
Or GM… or Volkswagon.. or Honda… or Hyundai… or….
Yugo?
Fuel injectors were expensive compared to carbs and more difficult to understand (they really aren’t if you have any grasp on electronics… which most auto mechanics don’t.)
That’s why they weren’t used much until the late 80’s and early 90’s.
Yet they put them onto Walker Bulldog light tanks which improved their miserable gas mileage in the 1950’s, so in some cases they were worth it.
