Is it me or is Benni looking concerned about how much Beth-anne knows?
Either he’s concerned or curious as to how she learned it. (Of course, she has implied that her brother is sexually active with her.)
She phrases that oddly. It almost sounds like she doesn’t even know she HAS a hymen, not just what it is called.

I’m glad Flora took a second to explain why the hymen isn’t good for determining virginity. The sad part is that a lot of people still think it is and in some cultures, the idea is so ingrained that women are expected to bleed on their wedding night or they could be accused of not being virgins. This sometimes causes their husbands to intentionally rough on them to make sure they do bleed, and in a few cases, that has caused serious injury or death. It just makes me shake my head. The number of stupid things the human species is willing to believe can truly be mind boggling at times. Like the notion that murdering someone is an appropriate response to them saying something that you don’t like that made you feel bad.
You can’t even blame dumb decisions on misguided religious practices. You’ve gotta lay blame squarely on the species. For all of our supposed intelligence we’re undeniably dumber than anything else found in the animal kingdom.
I am reminded of a Far Side cartoon where cowboys are gathered around a campfire, and one has pulled a gun and shot another. The caption is, “You guys are my witnesses. He laughed when my marshmallow caught fire!”
