After the most recent run of strips and the events that’ve transpired, this is a needed moment. Well done, Mr. Campion! Tugging on the old feels again, huh?
How do you pronounce the currency symbol? And what is a unit of currency equivalent to in 2019 US dollars?
In my Mammaloid stories I use “munits” (from “monetary units”) symbolized as a capital M with a horizontal bar, equal to about a dollar.
Seems like Benny maybe touched someone’s heart? (Sniff!) Someone else is getting a lesson in fair play, and Colin is just playin’ cool jazz in the background, on the low-key. At the start of the comic, I was not impressed with Colin’s parenting skills, he always gave me the impression that he could have been good at it, but was always running three minutes behind his pack… And only 30 seconds ahead of the horses and hounds. Here, we see Colin at his skillful best! Taking charge of getting the crime scene checked, replacing Benny’s flowers, reassuring Hunter, hanging up… Read more »
Please, for me, inform if the Word Caleb means Faithful, or the Name Caleb means Faithful, like Jack (the name) is short for John (because John is so long it needs a short version?) but jack (the word) is something used to lift things (like a car) or to steal something.. In Hebrew, does the capitalization make the important difference, like in English? Er…. American?
Both, I am pretty sure (word and name)… but Hebrew and English are very much the same in that regard, as are most languages. One word can mean several things, and context is what tells you which meaning is correct. In the “Jack” example, for instance, “to jack” something, meaning to steal it, derives from an older use of the name Jack to refer to a generic man or person, which still survives in the (somewhat passe) British phrase, “every man jack of them”. As far as capitalization, I really don’t know? I’m not so much a Hebrew scholar to… Read more »
huh, benni look like a kid here, like the way hes acting is so child like, i could see him swaying and avoiding eye contact like a bashful child!
its really sweet to see
(also flora….dont think talitha will get what your trying to say….seams like a goood few people have already ‘done that’ to her and made it out as ok….)
Benni is a kid, technically, he’s just barely eleven, and so unused to love, compassion, and generally being happy without having to ‘pay’ for it. He’s probably giddy with delight that he gets to get a gift for someone that cares for him, someone that is his foster mother and more than likely wishes she could be his for real mother.
Benni smiling isn’t something I’m use to. It’s a really cute look on him. Almost dorky in an adorable way. I hope we get to see him smile more in the future =P.
His eye-roll in the last panel is also ad-dork-able. Benny has such a good heart.
While we were led to believe that Benny was a bully, we see Now that it was formed of his dad Constantly moving him from city to town. His anger was at the injustice of his father beating him at every opportunity, his never getting consistant education put him behind, and his bullying was frustration at being thought stupid by his peers, when it was the abuse, and his lack of staying, that was the cause.
Yeah, I have issues with abusers. I wasn’t going to go all out on Benny’s dad. …. Cause I’d probably bust a blood vessel puking while remembering it all (Benny’s dads Actions, I didn’t have to experience that).

I sure hope it isn’t going to cause a huge ammount of drama when Flora eventually has to break up the puppy love Benny seems to have for her.
But who knows, I might just read his character wrong.
I don’t think that it’s puppy love. I think it’s hero worship. I don’t remember hearing anything about how long Benny’s Mom has been gone, –but in theory — this could be the first maternal love, the first unconditional love he can remember.

Hey, Campion. You might want to re-word the first dialog balloon to read, “..think about if Hunter HAD done the same…” or “…if Hunter DID the same…”
Good eye. Thanks!
Glad to help. This version is much better.
We so rarely get to see Benni smile. In spite of the lingering conflict in the first panel, today’s comic is a breath of fresh air.
Gee, I wonder who could have helped?

Been wondering that myself.
In fact, you beat me to the question. 🙂
The TV Tropes page has stated the currency is called “prims”, though there is no link provided as to the canonical source of the name.

I wonder if Campion even knows that.
Nope, I didn’t, and it’s very interesting. His name is more a pun on the usual convention of using plants to name rabbits.
While that’s true, (“Kaleb” means dog), it has a double meaning. It also means “Faithful”. That could have been what he was going for.

Just don’t talk about Jack and the trouble he’s had while dismounting his steed. :hmm:
LOL! 😆

Or consistent intake of food.

perhaps she was murdered.
Colin did well, despite being so derpy at times, he’s a good dad and a good father figure.
Awwww, so sweet
