Religion? I read the book “Darkness At Noon” and Rubashov mentions to his interrogator Ivanov that the (implied) Soviet Union is more sexually repressive than England. So much for atheism.
The Soviet Union and modern-day Russia, despite having no state religion and despite the former of the two having a hardon against the organized religion of the time, is and was full of Christians, of an overwhelming majority.
It’s not really religion, it’s just how some people interpret it and how they believe their religion gives them license to force their beliefs on other people.
Actually, the top ten mass murders were a mix of different belief systems and religions. The person at the top of that list was Mao Zedong, who was an atheist, but the next two on the list weren’t.
Genghis Khan, who is second on the list, was a tengrism (Mongolian shamanism), Chiang Kai-Shek, who is third on the list, was a Christian. And no, Hitler’s religious beliefs are not agreed upon by everyone; some have claimed he was an atheist, some have claimed was a theist but opposed Christianity for various reasons, some claimed he saw atheism as “the state of the animal” and saw it as worst than Christianity And honestly, I get tired of people constantly bringing up Stalin, Hitler and Pol Pot to try to paint atheists as the worst people. Hell I’m not even… Read more »
And I get tired of hearing atheists say how stupid and evil religious people are, and how intelligent and noble they are. Atheists may not automatically be evil, but they certainly are not noble either.
They don’t say how stupid and evil that religious people are; they highlight WHEN religious people are stupid and evil.
Consider the US prison population is 99.8% not atheist (that’s 0.2%) when the general population is roughly 30% atheist; we have plenty of evils to highlight in comparison.

I get the situation that Hunter is in. After being inappropriately touched, he’s going to expose himself, and even going to get curious enough to want to touch himself again. Colin will have to teach Hunter on how to be more careful on where he exposes himself. Bathrooms one thing, but, showing off what you got underneath your clothing is another.
Colin needs to get his head in gear of what is happening around him. The report is normal, the pre-school HAS to report ANY incident that happens.
Also, the squirrel should have shown a little more sensitive at notifying a parent about the incident. But then, they might have seen the incident as minor and the report as just normal routine operation between school and parents.
Ah, so we finally get around to this. On the one hand, Hunter was exposing himself, but it was because his friend asked to him to show it to him; it’s not like he just whipped it out and started showing off. I wonder if that came up and if his friend got in trouble as well? The only lesson I feel like Hunter needs to learn is that his privates are private and that he shouldn’t show them to anyone even if they ask him. On another note, are Colin and Hunter even part of this Guild the lady… Read more »
Seems to me that we created them, screwed ourselves over, they inherited the world and enough time passed as they evolved enough to basically step into our shoes that the people that created them had been gone so long that some deified them…while others probably doubt if they ever even existed at all.
It could easily be a situation something like Star Trek: DS9’s Founders of the Dominion. They created various races and set themselves up as their gods.
Now imagine that the Founders had all died off and left the Jem’Hadar and others to carry on by themselves. The deification of the Founders could easily continue for *millennia*, even after the details of the Founders themselves had fallen into myth and legend.
IIRC someone walked in on Hunter and the other kid when it was happening. They don’t show them, but from their reaction, it seems like they were a teacher.
Common sense if nothing else suggests a teacher would have seen this event themselves. Another student would likely have kept quiet about it-we can assume that it doesn’t pay to be a snitch in this world either.

Ah, religion. Fucking individuals up mentally for millennia!!!!
And the shit I could tell those poor beasts about “Man”…
Yeah. I’d make a great Satan. >.>

The More You Know!
The novel never mentioned religion or the church.
It’s not really religion, it’s just how some people interpret it and how they believe their religion gives them license to force their beliefs on other people.
My point still stands that secular societies are no better than religious ones. The biggest murderers in human history were in fact atheists.
Actually, the top ten mass murders were a mix of different belief systems and religions. The person at the top of that list was Mao Zedong, who was an atheist, but the next two on the list weren’t.
Hitler and Stalin were from all accounts atheists, as was Pol Pot. Genghis Khan’s religious leanings are unclear.

Now we know why their headgear covers their ears.
Smdh, kids his age almost always pee like that, why make such a big deal about it except to push stupid ideals on other peoples children?
Damage control after finding out about the whole molestation situation that was going on there.
If I remember right, it wasn’t just peeing. Right?

We know that they practice *some* religion… and it’s a different one from the one Flora and Kaleb practice. Details are still sparse, though.
Isn’t the idea that the animal=people in this scenario were created by humans? Otherwise why would they be worshipping them?
Seems to me that we created them, screwed ourselves over, they inherited the world and enough time passed as they evolved enough to basically step into our shoes that the people that created them had been gone so long that some deified them…while others probably doubt if they ever even existed at all.
Funny, I don’t hear of anybody worshipping dinosaurs or Neanderthals.

I assume four-legged animals still exist in this scenario
I’ll wait for you to puzzle out the one thing missing that would have made that a witty retort…
It wasn’t meant as a witty retort. But I assume that this isn’t a scenario where all lower animals evolved on their own to humanlike forms.
Exactly my thinking.

Question that should have been asked: who’s in the restrooms watching the kits pee?
Somebody could have just walked in to sue the bathroom himself and spotted it.
Sue the bathroom?
The very definition of a frivolous lawsuit. 😉
