I can understand how Benni knows so much about sexual acts, but how did 9 year old Tanya learn so much? She went from being raped to being the one that is raping in such a short period of time.
Not to mention that Colin has allowed the situation to get out of hand in a manner of minutes.
Please don’t call Tanya a rapist or compare her to the people who hurt Benni; Tanya just lacks restraint straint and doesn’t really see the full scope of what she’s doing, while the men who abused Benni were grown men who knew exactly what they were doing. This is completely an understandably unexpected situation; One that, unfortunately happens irl.
My daughter’s oldest foster child kept trying to get her little brother to do this to her.
It was the first real indication that she had been abused sexually; even the CPS investigation of her mother (the children were removed over drug use, but the family situation was *thoroughly* investigated) didn’t turn up any hint of it.
I mean, Tanya doesn’t know restraint (yet) and Benni doesn’t see this as abnormal since he has been forced to do things like this for a long time:
I guess Colin needs to start properly explaining that this is something private and not some “fun game” you can just do willy-nilly with anyone just because it feels good.
So when benni does it it’s a three alarm fire – “masters help me!” And when he has it done to him it’s nothing worse than “maybe you should give benni a break” … Alrighty then.
Interesting phrase btw, “masters help me” – does that imply this is a planet of the apes/animal farm scenario? They used to have human masters they broke away from?
I believe it was stated their world was once our world but then something happened that killed all the humans off and caused the other animals to evolve and now they only remember humanity as some kind of godlike figures and they’re basically reliving human history but with Brady’s as the dominant species.
Colin, it’s time to enforce punishment and have a good hard discussion about why they can’t do what they are doing. Otherwise Tanya is going to become a sexual predator. One thing I do agree with what
Timmie said, is that Tanya AND Benni needs counseling and Bennie needs to learn when it’s appropriate for such activities, like when he is older. Both kits have been violated in the wrong ways and they need help in learning how to get over and how to cope what happened.
I’m kind of curious if Tanya’s current actions and behavior are the way they are as a result of the trauma she experienced, or if it’s because: A, Benni’s her hero for saving her from far worse, and B, the previously strict rules against nudity and such have been lifted and she’s got a lot more freedom now.
Basically the question is, maybe Tanya has always been like this and simply had no outlet until now? Maybe after a few days she’ll calm down as the newness and thrill wears off?

Yes a good swat or cuff could be enough to get Tanya to learn a lesson, especially if Colin has never raised a paw in anger to punish the kits.

Maybe a swat on the rump to get her attention. Growing up as military kid, my mom was the disciplinarian (spanking, restrictions, swats etc) and my dad was hands off due to him growing up in an abusive family so he pretty much left it up to mom to mete out punishment for when my sister’s and I misbehave as he was very afrais that once he started swinging, he might not be able to stop. I’m sorry, I’m not in opposition to corporeal punishment, but this is ANYTHING but a situation where it’s appropriate or needed. Hell, I’d say this is a “you gone and done fucked up” if it WAS used here. The exploration got “out of hand” and sure, some correction might be needed, including a reminder of mindfulness of “when, where, and who”, but a physical force for kits being kits and in this case trusting Colin enough to not hide away with it? My thoughts exactly and to add to that, Colin more or less gave them permission to explore but set no boundaries on them, so if he were to then go and use physical force on Tanya to “discipline” her, what does that say to her? She’d be like “so first you said I could do this and now you’re hitting me because I did it?” It was on Colin as the adult to set parameters but he failed to do so, so that’s on him, not on her. I think Tanya and Benni would both benefit a second talk. Tanya needs to learn restraint and needs to understand that Benni isn’t used to refusing sex and that she shouldn’t push him the way she just did. Benni needs to help learning bodily autonomy and that he refuse without consequences. I’m interested in seeing how Colin reacts in the next strip; most parents would probably have a freakout over what just happened, but somehow I feel like that would make the situation worse.
The number of people who equate a nine year old’s lake of impulse control with a future of a rapist are incredibly disappointing.
Buddy, Tanya is 9 years old. That’s the age when we think we can get away with eating a whole box of cookies if no one is watching. there is nothing strange about a kid wanting to do something FUN.

The comparison was over the statement “Lack of impulse control”. Just because Tanya is 9 years old, she can still be viewed as a rapist. (yes, it is a strong word but it fits) Luring another child to commit an act they did not want to do is still exploitation. Benni was vulnerable, she took advantage of it.
I’m sorry, but I just don’t see it that way. And not just because of her age and lack of impulse, but also because of deliberation and intent. When I said she shouldn’t be let off the hook, I meant that Colin should take her aside and explain Benni’s mindset which is what I’ve been saying all along. Calling her a child molester is still too far in my mind but you seem intent on labeling her. The only thing I agree with with is that we should wait to see how Campion handles the issue.

If you can’t tell the difference between children exploring what they have been *told* is acceptable is explore and being confused over the concept of consent–something that grown-ass adult men struggle to understand–and two kids who were skipping school, shoplifting all day,and were specifically planning to abduct and murder a child, proceeded to do so, and pinned him down across a railroad track, I’m not sure what to tell you other than there are shades of gray in this world and Tanya is very far from the unmitigated evil you’re implying.

If anybody is being exploited, it’s Benni, although I doubt he sees it that way. He’s just doing as he was taught. And every kit and cub understand that ‘turn about is fair play’. Colin’s in a rough spot regardless of how you look at it. Flora gave him a lot of knowledge, but she can’t give him the wisdom he needs to properly utilize it. He got the hardware but not the accompanying software.
I would disagree with only one thing:
Nobody *needs* to become comfortable being naked. That’s a very personal thing, and nobody has a right to dictate for someone else what they *need* to become comfortable with.
Colin may *never* be comfortable with being naked in front of others, and that’s completely okay.

Campion said the story explores some pretty dark elements and what can come of them being mismanaged. Colin is doing the best he can but he’s lost at sea himself.
A grocery store manager forced to relocate and then has to deal with a bunch of raped children, including his own daughter. You expect him to handle it calmly?
