I wouldn’t be sure, but child molesters were hated by other prisoners decades ago as well as later on. If nothing else, there tends to be trouble when prisoners get killed.
That’s true. I heard that a large portion of prisoners were victims of molestation themselves and, as a result, had a healthy dislike of them. You can guess the rest. He better hope Benni’s father is put in the same prison but, since Benni’s dad is also a co-mo, it may not do him any good.
It’s also possible that the majority of prisoners are parents (or have nephews/nieces), and consider anyone who kills/abuses kids as someone who deserves to be turned into a pulp. Bonus points if the killer/molester committed crimes against their own children

I used to work in the State Prison system as an educator where I lived.
Often times, if they *aren’t* outright killed, they are kept alive so that appropriate “punishment” can be given out by fellow prisoners.
One of my students told me an anecdote about a molester who survived daily beatings, cigarette burns, deliberately broken bones (among other injuries) and repeated rapings for close to *ten years* before he finally hanged himself in his cell.

You would think. But “cho-mo” is prison slang for child molester. I don’t really understand the language rules involved, I just know what the word means.
At a guess–purely guess!–I’d say it’s maybe because Cho-mo rolls off the tongue more that Chi-mo (said as either Chee-mo or Chai-mo)

Also while I understand he molested and groomed his kid, he never meant any harm to her (not excusing his actions btw). Kinda crap to have to (possibly) die in jail like this.
The sad irony is that if anything happened to Tibron, nobody would miss him, but Talitha would be devastated if anything happened to her father.
The fact that Tibron was willing to kill his own son after deciding he couldn’t keep him
under control anymore, strongly suggests that he also murdered Benni’s mother as well after she decided to leave him.
Hence all the travelling across different states when things got too hot.
I’m wondering if Tibron is even related to Benni, or he just cupnapped him from an entirely different family.
Benni did mention having a Granny in an earlier strip, so he most likely is related to Tibron.
I don’t know if that makes his situation better or worse.
Benni mentioned his granny, but Ms Defay said he had no living family as far as they could find out.
It’s entirely possible that Benni’s granny died and Tiburon never told him. Or that she lives far enough away that she’s outside the KPS’ ability to look for her.
It’s the 90’s (equivalent), after all… Computer networks were local, not regional.
I actually had that idea, too; it would certainly explain why he seems to have no love or concern for him. At the same time, the world unfortunately has more abusive parents in it than we’d like to admit, so it could just be that Tibiron is a sociopath who straight up doesn’t care who he hurts. even if it’s his own cub.
Ray is in for a bad time, which he richly deserves.
the only ways i see for him to survive is to find either a strong and feared Co-Mo, who protects him or he has to become the bitch for one of the leading gangs in the prison. it’s generally a way to survive in prison a lot easier if you become part of one of the bigger gangs. if not a fully member, at least the toy for one of them. the leader would be best in that case, of course. that’s what an old friend of mine did. he got a few years for some stuff, and pretty quickly… Read more »
